Humor- With Arsenal looking set to finish fourth in the league, there has hardly been anything to cheer in recent weeks for Arsenal fans and things look like it will be getting worse for the Gunners.
The Gunners were dealt with another body blow after Denilson announced his plans to leave the Emirates club and look to pursue his future club.
Over the course of the last two seasons, Denilson has established himself as Arsenal’s most valuable player and has proved to be their most consistent performer this season.
He is reportedly frustrated by the lack of trophies at Arsenal and wants a chance to play with world class players. He has urged Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger to sign top quality player and has insisted that the Gunners’ boss retain their best players.
Denilson is desperate that Arsenal’s best players namely players like Nicklas Bendtner, Manuel Almunia, and Sebastian Squillaci be kept so that the Gunners can win the Champions League next season. But Wenger is interested in keeping only the fringe players like Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna. It is easy to understand Denilson’s frustration this season as he is stuck with mediocre and average players like van Persie, Fabregas and Nasri who lack the vision, skill and guile the majestic Denilson has.
This season we have witnessed the meteoric rise of Denilson and it is largely due to his rise that overrated and useless players like Jack Wilshere and Alex Song have warmed the bench at the Emirates as the majestic Brazilian has dazzled the world with his quick feet and skill.
His performances this season have drawn comparisons to the legendary Ronaldinho but it is now considered a fact that Denilson is already a greater and better player than the ex-Barcelona man.
Denilson mastered the art of passing the ball sideways perfectly this season and is the only player in the league this season to have not passed the ball forward. This feat has been heralded all over the world and as a result of his skill, players like Messi and Ronaldo came to the Emirates to learn the art mastered only by Denilson.
Denilson has played 32 games this season including 20 starts and was the man of the match in each of those matches this season with an exceptional performance against West Brom as he singlehandedly took the Gunners to the cusp of victory. It was in that match that Wenger had to bring off Denilson at half time as West Brom manager, Roy Hogdson begged Wenger to remove Denilson in order to save his club further humiliation.
This season there have been umpteen instances when Denilson has been in a different wavelength when compared to his teammates and that is the reason why Denilson is forced to reduce the tempo of his game in an effort to accommodate his slow and sluggish teammates who lack the fantastic vision and creativity of the Brazilian.
But while Denilson harbors well founded ambitions of playing for some of the top clubs in the world like Barcelona and Real Madrid, it will not be easy to sign him this season. The Gunners who are desperate to keep the player have stamped a world record transfer fee of £300 million in order to take him away from the London club.
Despite the huge transfer fee it is widely believed that Barcelona and Real Madrid are desperate to sign him. Both clubs are eager to bring the player to Spain and Barcelona and Real Madrid look set to rekindle their heated rivalry once again, but only this time it is off the pitch and it is in the transfer fee.
Barcelona are reportedly offering the Gunners £250 million plus two fringe players in Lionel Messi and David Villa while Real Madrid are willing to offer £275 million plus the massively overrated Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored a paltry 51 goals this season.
Denilson is currently the frontrunner for the 2011 Ballon d’Or and he is eager to start a new era of Brazilian domination. He has been in blistering form this season especially in front of goal as he has broken all sorts of records with his goalscoring exploits.
His form has been so good that some desperate Manchester United fans dressed up in Arsenal jerseys and attempted to boo the Brazilian in an attempt to affect his morale and his performances. But despite their best efforts, Denilson showed great mental fortitude and strength and has continued to set the world alight with his memorable performances.
This season marked the sixth consecutive trophy-less season for Wenger and his side and in such a situation they should look to retain their star players and if Denilson does go then Wenger will be left with an irreplaceable void in his midfield that no player in the world can ever fill.
But Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep the world’s best player at Arsenal and so he will make a last ditch attempt to keep the mercurial Brazilian at Arsenal.
The impact Denilson has at the club is so profound that some of Arsenal’s best players, Bendtner and Almunia too are interested in joining the Brazilian elsewhere.
If this were to be true, then Arsene Wenger and Arsenal can bid goodbye to any hopes they have of winning a trophy next season and should instead focus on surviving relegation.
I was so disappointed when I heard the news that I have decided to no longer support Arsenal as they once again show that they are nothing more than a selling club as they continue to sell their stars.
